Consumer Science Announces Academic Advisor Dr. Scot Burton

The Sustainability Consortium’s Academic Co-Directors have recently appointed Dr. Scot Burton as an Academic Advisor in the Consumer Science Working Group. Dr. Burton brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in market research that has been applied to the consumer goods industry and we’re excited to have his insight and support on the team.

Professor Burton has published more than eighty refereed journal articles in outlets such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research. Burton has also served on the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Business Research and the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. His teaching areas include research methods, consumer and market research, and global marketing. A significant portion of Burton’s recent research has focused on nutrition labeling, package claims and calorie labeling at restaurants. Prior to his academic career, Professor Burton was employed by Texas Commerce Bank, a twelve billion dollar bank holding company located in Houston, Texas. There, he was Vice-President in charge of Consumer Research and New Product Development.
