SUMMARY:Managing upstream labor risks in agriculture
DESCRIPTION:About\n\nIn December 2020\, the US government issued a new ban on some agriculture products from the Xinjiang region of China because of an extreme risk of exposure to forced labor\, leaving brands and manufacturers scrambling to map and de-risk their supply chains – a complex and hefty challenge. SUMMARY:Sustainable Foods Summit
DESCRIPTION:The Sustainable Foods Summit will discuss the sustainability implications of the coronavirus pandemic on the food industry. The crisis is shaking up supply chains for agricultural materials\, changing the way food is distributed and retailed\, as well as the how products are bought and consumed. Hosted on an online platform\, the summit will take place on 25-28th January 2021 (PDT).  Contact us to get the detailed summit agenda. \nHow is the pandemic affecting production and supply of agricultural raw materials? Why are transparency and traceability becoming more important in supply chains? How is the crisis accelerating changes in distribution and retailing? What sustainability schemes and labels are gaining popularity? How is COVD-19 affecting consumer behaviour towards sustainable foods? What are the long-term implications of such trends? Such questions will be addressed in a high-level forum. More details \nOrganized by Ecovia Intelligence (formerly Organic Monitor)\, the Sustainable Foods Summit is an international series of summits that focuses on the leading issues the food industry faces concerning sustainability and eco-labels\, such as Organic\, Fair Trade\, Rainforest Alliance\, etc. Other editions in 2021 will be hosted in the Asia-Pacific (15-18 March\, Online)\, Europe (9-11 June\, Amsterdam)\, and Latin America (24-25 Nov\, São Paulo).

SUMMARY:Wastewater 101 Toolbox: Resources for the Consumer Goods Industry
DESCRIPTION:How can we build business systems that reconnect us to the water that nourishes us? How can we incentivize proper treatment of water before it is released back into the watersheds that nourish all living things\, including us\, and our ability to do business? During this session\, we will explore the topic of wastewater\, the challenges in properly treating water\, and the opportunities to take action. We hear about TSC’s Wastewater 101 Toolbox\, a resource for connecting and getting started\, as well as about other tools and guidance that can help us work with our supply chain partners to reconnect them to the importance of protecting water and provide them with the resources they need to take action.\n\n  \nSpeakers\n\nSarah Lewis\, TSC\nJessica Kosak\, TSC\nUna Harcinovic\, ZDHC\nDr. Siva Rama Kumar Pariti\, Sustainable Textile Solutions

SUMMARY:FREE WEBINAR January 21 | Advancing Circular Economies in Electronics – The Battery Challenge
DESCRIPTION:FREE Webinar Registration: CLICK HERE \nPresenter: Carole Mars\, PhD\, Director\, Innovation and Technical Development\, The Sustainability Consortium (TSC)\, Arizona State University \nCreating a true circular economy for electronic equipment relies on the ability to reuse or recycle all components in a given product. Batteries are a key component in and a key barrier to creating circularity in electronics. This issue is relevant not only for the traditional consumer electronics industry\, but all industries that rely on power storage. In this webinar\, we will look at why batteries of all sizes present a significant challenge to circularity and some of the efforts underway to mitigate their impact. \n \nDr. Carole Mars is Director\, Technical Development and Innovation for The Sustainability Consortium. She is responsible for The Sustainability Insight System (THESIS) Key Performance Indicators for manufactured goods supply chains and leading further research into their sustainability. \nDr. Mars founded the Circular Innovation Hub at the Consortium to coordinate and expand work in the TSC Innovation project portfolio focused on how to create a socially and environmentally responsible circular economy. Her research is focused on the consumer electronics and battery industries\, with an emphasis on product fate and end-of-life management. She also serves as the Technical Advisor to the Responsible Battery Coalition. \nPrior to joining the Consortium\, Dr. Mars worked as a process engineer in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry. Dr. Mars earned her Ph.D. at Pennsylvania State University\, in surface analytical chemistry and her bachelor of science in chemistry at the University of Arizona. \nFREE Webinar Registration: CLICK HERE
